Learn about our passionate team, and how you can help!
Our amazing team of volunteers are committed to helping animals in our community. We take our convictions and turn them into action. Think you would be a good fit? See our contact page for more information about volunteer fostering!
After years of volunteering and working with private, as well, as other nonprofit animal rescues, we decided to form our organization to provide a safe haven for abandoned and stray animals.
Currently, we are operating as a small, volunteer, foster, rescue.
Hopeful Hearts Animal rescue, is beginning to grow, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing and surrounding communities!
Our mission is to provide quality care for unwanted, stray and abandoned animals, while educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets to avoid over population issues.
We at HHAR also strive to bring animal welfare awareness to our communities, in hopes to stop or prevent animal neglect and abuse!
We desperately need to raise $2000.00 for vet care at Marion Pet Care , located in Columbia, MS ! We can’t do anymore animal intakes to help those in need until our account is paid. Please Help!
This is my newest foster Shelby! She’s not new to Hopeful Hearts Animal Rescue. Shelby and her puppies were abandoned on a construction site in the Hattiesburg area and was put in foster are back in June!!! Since then all of her pups have been vetted on put in transports. Shelby’s foster could no longer care for her and she had to be boarded until room was found, which is today, with me!
It’s been reported that she has had some aggressive issues , so my plan is to watch and work with her to make sure she gets a proper chance. She also has some nasty chronic ear issues that are being treated. Her ears are cauliflower and have some growths inside that make it extremely hard to clean, ( honestly I don’t even think she can hear) but she allowed me to clean and wipe them out without any issues after we got home. She’s also heartworm positive and still needs spayed, so we have our work cut out for us and she is and is being treated at Marion Pet Care.
IMPORTANT! It is cruel to abandon an animal! If you cannot keep your pet, please do not just disregard it. Contact us if you need help and we will be happy to provide advice or take the animal in, depending on our volunteer fosters availability. Abandonment is wrong and most importantly, it is inhumane. Animals are relying on you to take care of them. Please do the right thing!
Hopeful Hearts Animal Rescue receives requests daily to take in animals.
Unfortunately, we cannot safely, legally or humanely accommodate some of these animals without fosters lined up on any given day. Arrangements must be made before surrendering an animal. If you need to do so please call or text 601-551-4785 or reach out to us on our Facebook messenger.
We operate as a FOSTER base rescue, we will need long or short term fosters available to receive an animal.
HHAR’s intake policy is prioritized as follows:
HHAR’s policy is to help an animal in the most dire need first. We sincerely regret not being able to take an animal. However, when we have no fosters available, we have no choice but to offer other options such as referral to another shelter, assistance with screening potential homes by placing the animal yourself or possibly assisting you with shelter placement.
Remember that some animals take longer than others to place and space is limited.
We try our very best to take in as many animals as we possibly can every month but we ask for your understanding when we are full and have nowhere to house any more animals.
Overcrowding creates stress on the animals, our foster volunteers and causes spread of disease. In addition, overcrowding is illegal and inhumane.
Please help us promote spaying and neutering and responsible pet ownership. Without community support and understanding of what we do at HHAR our doors would close.
Thank you to all, who support our rescue!
Hopeful Hearts Animal Rescue, is excited to announce, that we have partnered with Marion Pet Health to bring residents in our community discounted spay and neuter vouchers available to qualifying low income families!
